Travelling is
one of my hobbies and during winter I cannot resist the urge of feeling the
bliss of heaven while staying on land. Snowfall is such an experience for me.
You may wonder how this is possible in India. Well, let me correct you by
listing down some of the best places to see snowfall in India. Just a note, I
didn’t believe it unless I experienced it myself.
1. Pahalgam:
Have you heard
of Pahalgam? If not then let me tell you it is a small hill station in Jammu
Kashmir. It is one of the immaculate beauties in the country. Its splendour
lies in the riverside location and snow-capped peaks. But if you want to
experience its excitement you should take its long and quite treks away from
the city madness.
2. Kufri:
If you love
winter sports especially skiing, then Kufri is the best location for it. It is
one of the skiing hotspots. This beautiful region of Himachal transforms into a
white blanket of snow during the winters. Its additional and picturesque beauty
is from the tall deodars and pines.
3. Munsiyari:
Munsiyari, a new
discovery for the tourists of Uttarakhand. If you love trekking on snow covered
trekking routes, then this is a perfect place. It is full of mountains,
glaciers and astonishing natural beauty making it a fairyland for travellers.
4. Sonmarg:
Sonmarg, another
fairyland where you can witness snowfall for a very long time. It is one of the
perfect winter destinations for snow lovers. But before planning a trip to
Sonmarg do check the weather report as this place encounters landslides during
the heavy snow season.
5.
North Sikkim:
If you are a
true snow lover and want to play on snow and make some snowman and snow angels,
then just take a trip to North Sikkim. With its incredible beauty and the white
blanket of snow makes this place a paradise on earth. This has one of those
places where you can find snow all throughout the year.
6.
Khajjiar:
Khajjiar, known
as the Switzerland of India. The lush meadows, when covered in blankets of snow
during winters, give a picturesque vision of Khajjiar. This little hill station
is perfect to enjoy snowfall in India.
7. Lava:
Even if your
budget is tight and holiday days are limited still you can enjoy snow fall in
India. A lesser known place in West Bengal, Lava is one of the many beautiful
spots in India to watch the snowfall. The panoramic view of Kanchenjunga adds a
feather to its cap along with trekking and bird watching. Cheap air flights are
always available to this beautiful spot as it’s still not known to many
travellers. So, a quick getaway would not harm your pocket.
